Design and make trainers at Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts; walk in something you’ve made yourself
Imagine: a pair of trainers that perfectly match your style, made by you. At Amsterdam House of Arts & Crafts on Oudeschans in Amsterdam, you can do just that in a 5-hour workshop. You’ll start with a basic pattern which you’ll adapt to your own taste – the lines, the shapes, the cut. Then you’ll choose from an extensive collection of leathers and fabrics in every colour you can imagine.
Step by step, you’ll learn how to turn your idea into a pattern, how to cut out the pieces and, if you’re up for it, how to sew your own trainers on a sewing machine. After the workshop, the sole will be professionally attached to the upper, after which you can collect your trainers. The workshop takes place on Wednesdays and Sundays and costs €180, including all materials, leather, soles, guidance, and coffee and tea.
You don’t need any prior experience; the professional instructors will guide you through every step. It’s ideal to do with a friend, and one of the most original things you can make in Amsterdam.
