About this activity
Social volunteering at Serve the City Amsterdam: making people feel that they matter
Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can do is simply to be there. Through social volunteering with Serve the City Amsterdam, you make a genuine connection with people who really need it: older people, refugees, children, and people with disabilities or brain injuries. Not with grand gestures, but with attention, time and a genuine smile.
The activities are very varied. You’ll go for walks and have a chat with older people in the neighbourhood, supervise children with disabilities at a playground, organise a creative craft club, or help out at a neighbourhood evening or celebration. Each project lasts a few hours and takes place across the city, from Nieuw-West to Amstelveen.
No previous experience is needed; just a genuine interest in people. You can easily sign up via the online calendar, and joining in just once is perfectly fine. It’s an outing that might give you more than you expect, and it’s also great fun to do with friends or colleagues.
