About this activity
Culinary volunteering at Serve the City Amsterdam; cooking for a good cause
Imagine: making pancakes for the homeless, organising a high tea for a care home, or cooking a three-course dinner for a refugee shelter. That’s culinary volunteering at Serve the City Amsterdam, an international volunteer movement that offers practical help to people in need across the city.
The culinary activities are varied and accessible. You’ll help cook in a professional kitchen, assist with serving meals, prevent food waste by transforming leftovers into a meal, or help with catering at a local market. Activities take place on weekdays and at weekends, across various neighbourhoods in Amsterdam, and usually last a couple of hours. You can easily sign up via the online calendar.
You don’t need any experience and there’s no long-term commitment – just joining in once is enough. A special outing for anyone who’d like to give something back to the city, whether on your own or with a group of friends or colleagues.
