Moco Museum Amsterdam: modern art that really moves you
The Moco Museum is housed in Villa Alsberg, a stunning mansion on Museumplein, right next to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. Inside, you’ll find a surprisingly vibrant collection of modern, contemporary and digital art – compact yet brimming with colour, boldness and meaning.
The permanent collection centres on Modern Masters: Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring and Yayoi Kusama – artists who challenged the world and changed it forever. Alongside the permanent collection, there is a permanent Banksy exhibition featuring original works from private collections. Sharp, provocative and full of social commentary. Complemented by temporary exhibitions and an immersive digital experience by Studio Irma, where technology and art merge in a space filled with light and reflection.
A visit takes about an hour and a half, and a free audio tour is available via your own phone. Ideal for friends, couples or anyone who wants to experience art in an accessible and visually spectacular way. Tickets are cheaper if you book early or late in the day.
