Jaap Eden Ice Rink; Ice skating in the heart of Amsterdam
Since 1961, the Jaap Eden Ice Rink has been Amsterdam’s premier skating destination, and you can really feel that in the warm, familiar atmosphere of the place. On the 400-metre outdoor rink, you can skate freely from October to March: simply buy a ticket and get on with it, at your own pace. You can hire skates on the spot if you don’t have your own.
There’s more on offer than just public skating. For beginners and more experienced skaters alike, there are weekly skating lessons for both adults and children, and during the school holidays there are multi-day courses – ideal for an active day out in your own city. For groups and companies, there are clinics in skating, curling or ice hockey, which can be combined with drinks or dinner at one of the catering venues on site. Café JAAP is the perfect place to warm up before or after skating with a cup of hot chocolate or a hearty meal.
The rink is situated in Watergraafsmeer and is easily accessible by bike or public transport. A classic and cosy winter outing for the whole family, groups of friends or as an original team-building event.
