Experience Volendam: discover the real Volendam, from past to present
Volendam has been one of the Netherlands’ most iconic fishing villages for centuries, and at Experience Volendam you can experience it in a truly special way. Wearing VR goggles, you’ll travel back to 1916 and see what the village looked like over a hundred years ago – a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else in Volendam.
As well as the VR experience, you can also have your photo taken wearing an original Volendam traditional costume, the world-famous regional costume that symbolises the village. The photo will be sent to you by email, but you’re also welcome to bring your own camera. For those looking for more, there are combination packages available that combine the experience, a photo shoot and a guided tour of the village, led by a guide in traditional costume.
The packages are suitable for small and large groups, from 2 people upwards, and can also be easily combined with a visit to the Volendams Museum. A fun and original day out for families, groups of friends or as part of a group outing, close to Amsterdam on the IJmeer.
