The Anne Frank House: a visit you’ll never forget The Anne Frank House on Prinsengracht in Amsterdam is more than just a museum. It is the actual building where Anne Frank, her family and four others went into hiding from the Nazis for over two years during the Second World War. A visit to this house is therefore a deeply moving and emotional experience. You literally walk through the rooms of the Secret Annex, which have been deliberately left empty to allow the space to speak for itself. In the front part of the building, you’ll find an extensive exhibition about Anne’s life, the war years and contemporary forms of discrimination. Anne Frank’s original diary is on display behind glass. The museum can also be visited by school groups or larger parties, and an optional 30-minute introductory programme is available. Tickets can only be booked online and sell out quickly, so booking early is a must.
